Sinking ship - Motivational story with moral
One day, a teacher began telling a story to her students.
This is the story.
A young married couple made it to the
rescue station after surviving a sinking ship in some way. It was the last
lifeboat that was actively being used. They understood they would have to make
a difficult choice in this situation. In other words, the boat is down to its
last seat.
"Who Should Survive?
“The husband gave his wife a loving
kiss after gazing at her silently for a time, placed her on the side of the
ship, and jumped into the lifeboat right away.
He received a message from her scream.
"She was left with no
alternative but to accept her fate on the sinking ship with tears in her
yes."
The teacher briefly paused in
mid-sentence to turn her attention to the students. The students waited for her
to continue the story as their eyes begged them to. What do you think she
may have yelled?
After a little pause, the teacher
asked a question of the pupils. Many different responses came from the pupils.
“I was a fool to put my trust in a
man like you, I hate you.”
These and other responses from the
pupils include "Cursed be you."
The student who was silently seated
in the classroom's corner caught the teacher's attention. She asked him the
same question again.
What do you think she may have
yelled?
"Teacher, I believe she must
have said to take excellent care of our child," the silent student replied,
lifting his eyes to the ceiling.
The teacher was taken aback by the
student's response and inquired, "Have you heard this story before?"
"No, but just before my mother passed away, she told my father that," student said.
The teacher sighed heavily before
continuing. Your response is accurate, she proclaimed.
When the ship sank, the husband went
back to his house and took extremely good care of his only daughter.
The story was told again by the
teacher.
One day, the daughter went through an
old cabin and discovered her mother's old journal.
It was noted that his mother had
cancer and had only a limited amount of time left to live when she boarded the
ship.
"She recognized that her
Courageous mother was giving up her life to the icy water for herself while
protecting her father,"
The following was written in his
father's handwriting on the final page of the same diary: "I wish I could have kissed
the cold seabed with you on that dark night."
Think for a moment.
How frequently do we make decisions
based on a superficial comprehension of people and circumstances?
Often, they make those decisions not
because of stupidity or ignorance but because of a deeper vision than we do.
It would be better for everyone to
think twice rather than make hasty decisions.
