Couple Rescues Over 13,000 Dogs and Gives Pets 'Lifetime Promise' that They'll Never Be Unhappy
Danny and Ron's Rescue is run by Ron
Danta and Danny Robertshaw out of their South Carolina home, where they care
for dozens of dogs in need of a second chance.
Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta have
dedicated their lives to dogs.
This mutual love of animals, combined
with a self-described proclivity to "jump in with both feet," led the
couple to rescue dogs and save approximately 600 dogs caught in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina.

Danta and Robertshaw officially dedicated
themselves to dog rescue after this heroic effort and founded the nonprofit Danny
& Ron's Rescue.
"There was never a time when
either of us had to ask the other, 'Are you up for this?'" Danta comments
on the decision.
Before establishing the nonprofit,
Danta and Robertshaw paid for their rescue dogs' care with their own money,
taking out home equity loans and withdrawing from retirement accounts.
Thanks to donations to Danny &
Ron's Rescue, the couple's life-saving work has expanded, and they have now
given nearly 14,000 dogs a second chance at life.
Danny & Ron's Rescue provides
each dog with a ""Lifetime Promise," the couple explains,
"which means they will never be in a shelter, homeless, hungry, or unhappy
again." They will never be alone again. Each dog is rescued and placed in
our home, not in a facility away from us. We love them as if they were our own,
even as we try to find them forever homes where they can receive more
individualized attention than we can give at our house because we have so
many."
Danta and Robertshaw give their
rescue dog residents free rein of the house, allowing them to visit any room
and sleep on the couches and beds.
