Used Tea Bags

Ruby Silvious is known internationally for her miniature paintings and collages on used tea bags. Using the emptied-out tea bag as her canvas and altering it to create a new piece of art every day. On used teabag paper, she draws, paints, prints, and collages moody, evocative, and sometimes whimsical art. Ruby wants viewers to keep an open mind and think outside of the box when it comes to traditional art.

Her paintings on tea bags, some of which were inspired by her travels around the world. Silvious was educated in the United States and Asia, and she now lives and works in New York's Hudson Valley. Her work has been shown internationally and is in public and private collections.

Even as a child, she enjoyed creating and working with her hands. Her career path took her in various directions over the years, but she knew that at the end of it, she would be making art. Some of her tea bag art has been inspired by various cultural experiences gained through her travels. She transforms everyday objects into canvases for her art. That's all there is to it.
